Steps to Setup ARMember – Membership Retention For Your Website
Let’s setup ARMember – Membership Retention for your website:
-
After activating the addon, navigate to
ARMember → General Settings → General Options. Then, enable the Membership Retention option using the toggle switch. Once enabled, the Membership Retention settings become available. -
After you enable the feature, the WordPress visual editor appears automatically with the default retention content. However, you can replace the default text with your own retention message, promotional offer, or discount to encourage members to keep their subscription.
-
Inside the content editor, add the cancellation link by wrapping your preferred text with the
[ARM_CANCEL_LINK]...[/ARM_CANCEL_LINK]shortcode. For example, use[ARM_CANCEL_LINK]Proceed to Cancel Membership[/ARM_CANCEL_LINK]to allow members to complete the cancellation process after viewing your retention message. -
The Membership Retention page uses the
[arm_membership_retention]shortcode. In addition, you can customize its behavior by using the following optional parameters:cancel_message– Displays a custom success message after a member cancels the subscription.cancelled_text– Displays custom text when a member visits the page after the subscription has already been cancelled.
-
After activation, the addon automatically creates and assigns the Membership Retention page. However, you can review or change the assigned page anytime from
ARMember → General Settings → Page Setup. -
If the retention page is missing or you want to use a different page, create or edit a page and add the Membership Shortcodes block.
-
Next, open the Others tab in the block settings and select Membership Retention. Consequently, the editor inserts the required shortcode into the page automatically.
-
After you save the page, members who click the cancellation option are redirected to the Membership Retention page instead of cancelling immediately. As a result, they first see your retention message, discount, or alternative offer before completing the cancellation.
